YOUR IMPACT 
The Senior Manager of Club Design plays a pivotal role in the evolution and expansion of the Crunch Fitness brand. Reporting to the Vice President of Design, this position ensures design excellence and consistency across both corporate-owned and rapidly growing franchise locations. Acting as a key steward of Crunch’s design vision, the Senior Manager of Club Design upholds brand identity while driving creativity and continuous improvement in club design.
 
This role is responsible for defining and leading the creative direction for new prototypes while ensuring consistent execution and maintenance of domestic and international design standards. It oversees design manuals, floor planning, and interior décor guidelines for CAPEX projects across corporate and franchise locations, ensuring all initiatives align with strategic goals. By leveraging market trends and regional brand insights, the Senior Manager of Club Design integrates innovative ideas into club design standards to enhance the overall member experience.
 
In addition to design oversight, this position requires strong leadership and collaboration across internal teams and the Crunch franchise community. The ideal candidate brings expertise in multi-site design and development, with the ability to manage large-scale projects while maintaining attention to detail. Balancing high-level strategy with hands-on problem-solving, the Senior Manager of Club Design plays a critical role in driving scalable, impactful, and innovative design solutions that shape the future of Crunch Fitness.

Key internal partners include:
  • Real Estate & Construction Team – Collaborating on the planning and execution of site and spatial design.
  • Member Experience Team – supporting new concept development, remodel programs, and innovation
  • Procurement – coordinating vendor management and accountability
  • Marketing Department – Aligning design with marketing strategies to support pre-sales, new gym and remodel concepts.
  • Executive Team – ensuring design strategy aligns with broader business goals.
  • Corporate Projects – Stakeholders may vary and may include the CFO and other in-scope leaders. 
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES 
 
Corporate & Franchise Gym Design Standards 
  • Collaborate with the VP of Design to develop, maintain and refine club design manuals using Sketchup and Adobe software to ensure consistency and brand alignment across all locations.
  • Follow VP’s strategic direction on companywide program initiatives for franchised-owned clubs and corporate projects.
  • Serve as an expert in material selection and design expertise in the fitness industry.
  • Partner with Strategic Sourcing and VP of Design to strengthen vendor relationships and streamline processes for procuring, ordering and installing finishes, materials, and signage. 
  • Identify and implement cost efficiencies through historical data analysis for benchmarking and forecasting.
  • Responsible for evolving standards and designs based on trends, member feedback, and operational needs.
Project Management and Execution
  • Tracking active projects from strategy through implementation. 
  • Ensure brand standards are effectively communicated to owners, architects, vendors, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Propose initial floor plans, exterior signage, and graphics package requests for all projects, franchise and corporate for VP of Design’s approval.
  • Create conceptual layouts of club and proposed gym equipment for new clubs and remodels to drive / increase membership and company revenues.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
  • Bachelor’s degree in design, real estate, architecture or other relevant fields or equivalent professional experience is required. 
  • 8+ years in design and development with 3+ years in a leadership role. Multi-site and franchise experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong ability to communicate at all levels inside and outside the organization, fostering positive working connections.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to persuasively convey ideas and encourage diverse groups to embrace new perspectives, while also being open to revising one's own views based on fresh insights or limitations.
  • A quick study with a proactive mindset and innovative problem-solving capabilities, showing willingness to experiment with new strategies; characterized by decisiveness, practicality, and logical thinking.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality results within defined timelines.
  • Exceptional acumen in collaborating with matrixed partners establishing productive relationships that advance business objectives.
  • Proactive ownership of functional area, able to lead and inspire through actions, forming collaborative and effective team dynamics.
  • Mastery in AutoCAD, Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suite.
